Coal Gasification Generator Set/Power Plant1. IntroductionThe coal power plant produces a valuable gas named producer gas - Syngas (Synthetic gas). The applicable coal is non-caking or weak-caking anthracite, bituminous ect. This system can produce electric power in the range of 400kW 6.0MW by using a few parallel modular units.
Due to every kind of coal itself has sulfur content, the gasification process will produce some sulfur oxide emissions (SOx). However, we use a device called desulfurization tower which can remove 90% sulfur content, the sulfur oxide emission will less than 50mg/Nm3, if you use two device, will less than 5 mg/Nm3. This system will be very popular in some coal-cheaper country like Vietname, Indonesia, India and ect.
2. The process of CGPS: Coal is converted to low BTU coal gas. Sulfur content, nitrogen oxides, dust are removed in the coal gas purification section. The clean coal gas is then fired to generate electricity in gas engine. Exhaust gas of gas engine may be used by waste heat boiler to produce hot water or steam, which may be used in lithium bromide chiller.
3. System concept and efficiency:
The production of 1 KW of power requires only 0.5~1 kg of coal. The water used in the cooling system of this process can be recycled after undergoing a simple treatment and thereby having no harmful effects to the ecological system and the environment.
This project is an ideal solution for regions where there are have cheap coal and shortage of electricity and using HFO or diesel making electricity.
In consideration of the above mentioned particulars, the feasibility of such Power station will save a lot money if some factory now using LPG or HFO to power their factroy.
The technology of producing power by gasification of coal is easy to operate, simple and economical in maintenances and service, has no high pressure steam, no turbines and is easy to start up and run the standard combustion generator.
The power station requires a small land area to operate. It is environmental-friendly, simple to install. These will in turn produce very low cost valuable electric power energy.
